After supporting the formative period of Electric Jazz as a member of Miles Davis’s band, he formed his own group, the Mahavishnu Orchestra. This band greatly expanded the possibilities of fusion music with its intense playing, characterized by complex rhythms and virtuosity strongly influenced by Indian music.
