サディスティック・ミカ・バンドは、1970年代に活躍した日本のロックバンドだ。加藤和彦を中心に結成され、高橋幸宏、高中正義、ミカといった個性的なメンバーが在籍していた。彼らの音楽は、ロックを基盤としながらも、プログレッシブ・ロック、グラムロック、ファンクなど様々なジャンルの要素を取り入れた、先鋭的で実験的なサウンドが特徴だ。特に、ミカの奔放なボーカルと、高中正義のテクニカルなギタープレイは、バンドの大きな魅力であった。国内外で高い評価を受け、YMOなど後の日本の音楽シーンに多大な影響を与えたバンドとして知られている。
Sadistic Mika Band was a Japanese rock band active in the 1970s. Formed around Kazuhiko Kato, the band included unique members such as Yukihiro Takahashi, Masayoshi Takanaka, and Mika. Their music was characterized by an advanced and experimental sound, incorporating various genre elements like progressive rock, glam rock, and funk, all built upon a rock foundation. Mika’s uninhibited vocals and Masayoshi Takanaka’s technical guitar playing were particularly significant attractions of the band.
