RCAケーブルは、主に家庭用のオーディオ・ビジュアル機器で広く使われている接続ケーブルだ。一般的にはピンプラグや赤白ケーブルという名称でも知られている。
このケーブルの名称は、開発元の企業名「Radio Corporation of America」に由来している。通常、一本のケーブルにつき一つの信号しか伝送できず、ステレオ音声信号を扱う場合は、赤のプラグで右チャンネルを、白のプラグで左チャンネルを伝送するのが国際的な色分けの標準だ。映像信号を同時に送る場合は、さらに黄色のプラグが加わる。
RCAケーブルは、信号線とグラウンド線だけで構成されるアンバランス接続を採用しているため、構造は単純で扱いやすいが、ケーブルが長くなるとノイズを拾いやすいという弱点がある。そのため、プロの現場よりも、機器間の距離が短い一般家庭のオーディオシステムで利用されることが多い。

When handling stereo audio signals, the international color code standard dictates that the red plug transmits the right channel audio, and the white plug transmits the left channel audio. If a video signal is sent simultaneously, a yellow plug is added.
RCA cables employ an unbalanced connection composed only of a signal wire and a ground wire. While the structure is simple and easy to use, they have a weakness in that they tend to pick up noise when the cable is long. Therefore, they are mostly used in home audio systems where the distance between devices is short, rather than in professional settings.
