By the 1990s, grunge, epitomized by Nirvana from Seattle, swept the mainstream rock scene, signaling the arrival of an era that demanded rawer, more introspective rock. Since the 2000s, rock genres have further fragmented, with a wide variety of sounds coexisting, including indie rock, emo, and post-punk revival. American rock continues its diversity and evolution, constantly spawning new talents even today.
